Mar 03, 2025
The LEAP Squad Virtual Team had an impressive showing at the PTFCA Indoor State Championship and Coach Keinan Briggs couldn't be prouder of the hard work and dedication his athletes have put into their training. Let’s dive into the highlights from Penn State University, where these athletes demonstrated their commitment to excellence.
First up, Milena Scilluo, who has been steadily pushing herself to improve, soared to a new indoor personal best in the triple jump with a mark of 40'3.50". This earned her a 2nd place finish overall. But she didn’t stop there, Milena also cleared 5'5" in the high jump, finishing in 3rd place. “I’m proud of myself for getting back to 40’ this year, even though I’ve been working on my new triple jump form. I’m ready for the outdoor season,” Milena said with determination.
Matthew McCall, who has been on fire this season, helped his 4x200 relay team break the North Penn High School record. McCall split an impressive 22.2 seconds on his leg of the race, and the team finished 6th overall. It was another example of how LEAP Squad athletes are not only pushing personal boundaries but also leaving their mark on school history.
Sara Roe, a senior wrapping up her indoor season, showed grit and resilience. While not at her best on the day, she finished 13th in the long jump and 15th in the triple jump. However, she left with two new school records and personal indoor bests of 17'9.75" in the long jump and 36'1.50" in the triple jump. "Not my best day, but I know exactly what I need to fix going into the outdoor season,” Sara said, looking forward to what’s to come.
Coach Keinan Briggs shared his pride in their efforts: “These three have worked incredibly hard during the offseason, and I am super proud of them. What is happening here is different, and it’s opening a new door for endless possibilities for atheletes and high school program.”
Their success serves as a testament to the impact of the LEAP Squad Virtual Team and their high school teams where hard work and commitment lead to impressive results. It’s clear that these athletes are just getting started and with outdoor season approaching, we’re excited to see what’s next!
Stay tuned for more updates as Milena, Matthew, and Sara continue to push their limits and make waves in the track and field world.
